Newman Connection

Columbia River Serra is working with a nationwide program called Newman Connection.  Newman Connection is a program that introduces incoming freshman college students with the Newman Center or closest parish to the campus that they will be attending next fall.

Research of campus ministries has shown that students who practice their faith while in college, have an overall benefit to the church, attend mass regularly, become strong Catholic leaders and are more likely to consider a religious vocation.   Campus ministers say that contact within the first 2 weeks is necessary, this is the time frame where freshman join groups that they will associate with for the remainder of their college careers.

Columbia River Serra works with Seton Catholic High School and Parish youth/faith formation groups to ensure that graduating high schools seniors get ‘connected’ through the Newman Connection program.   It is our hope that this program will help the student to remain engaged in the Catholic faith while working through the transition into college and continue throughout the years.

If you would like to have Columbia River Serra come to present this exiting program to your High School seniors, please send an email to NewmanConnection@columbiariverserra.org.
